Ho Chi Minh City

Ho Chi Minh City, located in the south, is Vietnam's most economically developed city, with skyscrapers lining the center of the town, and many famous Japanese companies, including European and American companies, operating here.

In addition, there are still buildings in this modern city that are reminiscent of those times, such as the colonial-style post office and opera house built during the French colonial rule in the 19th and 20th centuries. This is one of the attractions of this town.

Tourist destination information

1. Reunification Palace

Reunification Palace, known as the place where the Vietnam War ended, is located in the center of District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. Before the Vietnam War ended in 1975, South Vietnam was ruled by the Republic of Vietnam, whose capital at that time was Saigon.

This Reunification Palace was used as the official residence of the president during the South Vietnamese regime, and inside, the office, conference rooms, presidential bedroom, and communication facilities remain as they were back then.

Built during the French colonial era at the end of the 19th century, the colonial-style Central Post Office is located in the same area as the Church of the Virgin Mary at the northern end of the city's Dong Khoi Street.

Many foreign travelers buy postcards at the souvenir shop inside and send letters from there, and stamps to Japan can be purchased for about 200 yen.

In front of the People's Commissariat Building at the northernmost end of Nguyen Hue Street, a statue of Ho Chi Minh, the founding father of Vietnam, towers over the peaceful people while giving a sense of dignity.

4. Ben Thanh Market

Ho Chi Minh's Kitchen, which is always featured in guidebooks, is a popular tourist spot where you will find approximately 2,000 individual shops lined up as you step inside, giving you a chaotic atmosphere unique to Southeast Asia.

Recently, the number of malicious rip-offs has decreased due to police crackdowns, but store owners often listen to the languages spoken by tourists and skillfully use English, Japanese, and Korean to force tourists to sell at higher prices than the market price. Please be careful as it will come.
